THE
POMOR-PROJECT
1998 - 2001

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Bodø Regional University has initiated a major three-year project of co-operation with the Faculty of Social Work, Pomor State University and the Norwegian-Pomor University Centre in Arkhangel.

The project covers a wide range of education, research and development in the field of Social Work. Increasing competence, strengthening theory and practice and the exchange of students and staff will be central areas for the co-operation.

Duration and finance:

The project will run for 3 years (1998-2001) and is financed by the Norwegian Research Council via Center for International University Cooperation in Bergen, Norway.

The Pomor-Project is closely connected to the framework based on "The Strategy for the Specific Programme for Higher Education and Research under the Action Programme for Eastern Europe".

Main Objectives:

  • to accomplish a programme of institution-building at the Faculty of Social Work and the Norwegian-Pomor University Centre, Pomor State University
  • to accomplish a programme for improving and qualifying social-work students in Bodø and Arkhangel
  • to strengthen the international perspectives of both institutions and develop democratic and human values in social work education

The project involves activities like:

  • conferences on different themes connected to the field of social work
  • student exchange
  • curriculum and study-program development
  • staff exchange
  • video conferences
  • translation and editing litterature
  • development of comparative research projects
