Nordic library

The Nordic library is arranged by the Norwegian-Pomor University Centre and countries of the Barents Region in April 1998. In 1998 the library fund was of 3000 copies. Today it is about 10 000 copies in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Icelandic, Dutch languages. Books in different spheres are presented: in history, politics, modern politics in Nordic countries, art, religious, education. There are books in English and Russian about Nordic countries. The library is disposed of unique national encyclopedias of Norway and Sweden. There is a big choice of fiction, periodical, reference literature, audio and video materials.

In 1998-2000 the library received books from the following sources:

- University of Tromsoe – 2 500

- Lulea University – 1 500

- Danish libraries – 1 800

- Lapland University and Arctic Centre – 300

- Private persons – 900

Library fund in 2000 – 10 000 copies.

Periodicals – 7 copies (“Dagbladet”, “Dagbladet magasinet”, “Nordlyst”, “Prospect”)

Number of readers – 220

Number of borrowed books – 350 per month.

Number of seats in the reading-room – 9

Equipment-computer, local network, access to INTERNET.

All those who are interested in Nordic countries are welcome to borrow books from the Nordic library.
